Summer Stateside

We’ve reached the bittersweet bridge of August, “the odd uneven time” as Sylvia Plath called it. A fantastic summer winding down, a new school year on the near horizon.

It seems hard to fathom that this month marks the start of my third year in Switzerland. Thankful and excited to see what the year holds in store, I am looking back on the colorful summer that was – full of good cheer, quiet beauty, and time with loved ones. Until the next, here’s to the memories…

World Cup Boston with Chris (Germany v. Paraguay)

San Francisco (Fourth of July with Suz, Brett, & Katie)

Franconia Notch (Cousins’ Trip 2026)

Tall Ships Boston with Doug

Monhegan Island Art Retreat with Suz & Deb

Cape Cod (Quivet Neck)

Thank you to everyone who made this beautiful summer what it was. It wouldn’t have been the same without you.

Here we come to a turning of the season
Witness to the arc towards the sun
The neighbors blessed burden within reason
Becomes a burden borne of all in one
And nobody, nobody knows
Let the yoke fall from our shoulders
Don’t carry it all don’t carry it all
We are all our hands in holders
Beneath this bold and brilliant sun
And this I swear to all

The Decemberists, Don’t Carry It All
